It was the Roaring Twenties and Canada was booming. Highways were being built
across the land and the future seemed bright.
After quitting his job at the
local tannery and the purchase of a Model ‘A’ Ford Truck, Edward (Ted) Tyler Sr.
set out in May 1929 and launched “Tyler’s Transport” hoping for a new ‘road’ for
his family with their own business. Within months it was the beginning of the Great Depression. By October that year, Wall Street crashed and John D. Rockfeller said, "These are the days when many are discouraged..."
With his wife Gwendolene and son, Ted Jr. working alongside him, Ted pushed forward to make his company a success.
In 1948, the Tyler's expanded the company to include a school bus division. For the past 68 years, the company and its employees have transported thousands of students safely.
Ted Jr. along with his wife Dolores and daughter Angela continue
to expand the company to include charters for schools as well as private groups,
airport service, municipal mobility service, special needs passenger transport
and more while strongly supporting public service and community organizations.
Through the decades, the Tyler family, a third generation family business, is
proud to state the company’s mottos, “Service That Satisfies Since 1929” and
“Transporting Your Children Safely Since 1948”.
What makes Tyler Trnsport Limited even more
unique is that we have not only transported generations of
children from the same families, they now include great grandchildren of
students who were passengers on Ted Sr’s bus. We can say the same for our
employees as well, having employed several
generations from the same families over the years.
We are truly a family company with a ‘hands-on’ approach passenger and vehicle safety
is always a top priority, as well as ensuring our employees
are not just a number or a name. They are a part of our family too.
Just as Ted Sr.
started the business with a vision, the next generation of the Tyler family has
a vision for their future as well, while proudly remembering their origin.
